Vanderlande BOP 2

LAX

The Baggage Optimization Project (BOP2) is a significant multi-year effort to modernize and improve baggage handling capacity at Los Angeles International Airport. As part of this program, Vanderlande is upgrading and replacing aging conveyor and sorting equipment to enhance system reliability, increase throughput, and support future passenger growth.

The project requires extensive coordination across multiple LAX terminals to ensure construction can progress safely while maintaining day-to-day airport operations. Work includes phased shutdowns of existing systems, installation of new automated handling equipment, and integration of updated technology designed to streamline baggage movement across the airport.

BOP2 is a key component of LAX’s broader modernization plan, supporting its long-term vision and preparing the airport for increased demand ahead of significant events such as the 2028 Olympics.
